WINNING: Tinashe’s ‘Nasty’ Becomes the Highest-Charting Solo Hit of Her Career

Tinashe is no stranger to seeing her music releases celebrated by fans and critics alike over the years, but – much to their dismay – the award-winning singer-songwriter hasn’t seen much of that fanfare reflected commercially since lifting her breakthrough single ‘2 On‘ to the Hot 100’s top 40 ten years ago.

In fact, before this week that Mustard-produced banger was her only appearance on the all-genre chart as a song leader.

The updated edition of the tally shows a long overdue change has come, however, as her latest viral hit ‘Nasty‘ has made its first appearance.

Premiered April 11 as the first single from her forthcoming album, ‘BB/ANG3L PT.2 – QUANTUM BABY,‘ ‘Nasty’ hit digital airwaves on the wings of a sizzling music video directed by Jonah Haber.

As if the choreography from the visual wasn’t enough to get tongues wagging, the tune soared to a #7 on Billboard’s TikTok charts thanks to a viral dance challenge that swept the platform.

Look below to see how that ongoing response has translated to handsome sales, radio airplay, and streaming for ‘Nasty’ – pushing it to premiere at #90 on this week’s Hot 100.

  • Streaming ≈ 5.8 million U.S.-based streams

  • Sales ≈ 700 digital downloads

  • Radio airplay ≈ 400,000 audience impressions

The fourth quadrant opening not only marks her highest-charting unaccompanied hit on the Hot 100, but it’s also the first time she’s ever charted a solo track on the all-genre chart.

Among all her songs, the Schoolboy Q-assisted ‘2 On’ remains her overall highest-charting number as it peaked at #24 in 2014.

Look below to see who joins her on this week’s TGJ Chart Check.
